Two suspects arrested for drug offences at JB nightclub


JOHOR BARU: Two men were arrested at an entertainment centre here for drug-related offences between 1.30am and 5am on Thursday (Nov 24).

Johor police chief Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said initial tests showed the two suspects, aged 23 and 27, were positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

He said police also detained a 23-year-old man worker, adding that the suspect failed to produce a valid business license.

"Some 28 officers from our Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) were involved in the operation at two entertainment centres around Johor Baru," Comm Kamarul said in a statement on Friday (Nov 25).

He added 46 individuals aged between 18 and 53 were inspected during the operation.

Comm Kamarul said police also seized speakers, a microphone, a line mixer and a laptop from the unlicensed centre.

He said all suspects have been remanded to assist investigations under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6(2) of the Johor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment.
